Rated tournaments 10

These tournaments are rated: their results go into the players' ratings, the German DWZ and, where FIDE reports the event, the international Elo, which is why FIDE's monthly reports on rated tournaments date several of them. The open tournaments of the International Dortmund Chess Days, the Ruhrhalbinsel-Open in Essen and the Unser Fritz-Open in Wanne-Eickel are the large opens of the region, each over several days.

Duisburg-Rheinhausen adds three rated events of one club, and in Dortmund-Brackel the local club runs a rated youth arena in autumn and Epiphany tournaments in January. In Essen-Werden the invitation group of the Nikolaus tournament is rated, and Oberhausen's seniors' championship counts too. Club championships and league games are rated as well, but they belong to the club entries.
