About this list

These are the places whose own pages, or the city's, say that anyone may come or that guests are welcome. In Dortmund that covers several club nights: Schachclub Hansa in the city centre, SV Rochade Eving, which invites visitors to play a game, DJK Ewaldi Aplerbeck, the Freier Sportverein von 1898 and Schachclub Scharnhorst 2002, which the city describes as free for beginners and experienced players.

The Begegnungszentren in Berghofen and Mengede, municipal meeting centres, hold chess afternoons and evenings open to all, and the Dümpten library in Mülheim runs a board-game meet for pupils, parents and grandparents without registration. Outside Dortmund, the Listiger Bauer in Essen-West, the Königsspringer in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, Schachfreunde Kirchhellen, the TC Sterkrade department at the Sterkrade library and Schachgemeinschaft Hünxe say the same. A club whose pages are silent on guests may welcome them too.
