Chess in Oberhausen 6

Oberhausen has one of the oldest clubs of the region, the Oberhausener Schachverein 1887, which trains its young players on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Osterfeld has two clubs, Schachverein Schwarz-Weiß Oberhausen and Schwarze Dame Osterfeld, both with a Friday club night, and the north of the city adds the chess department of Sportvereinigung Sterkrade-Nord in Schmachtendorf, which meets on Monday evenings.

The Turnclub Sterkrade 1869 holds an open chess meeting for anyone who wants a quick game on Saturday mornings at the public library in Sterkrade, with training groups during the week. In summer the city also plays an Oberhausen seniors' championship over five weekly rounds, open to players of several clubs and to players without a club.
